The Stockton Police Department Receives New Equipment
A Step Foward for Public Safety in Stockton
On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, the City of Stockton and the Police Department hosted their special police fleet dedication ceremony at Stockton’s very own Weber Point Events Center to showcase the latest addition to the Stockton community.
At this ceremony, the Stockton community had the chance to view the brand new police equipment, ask questions, and learn more information about how this will help our city.
In a statement from Stockton Police Chief Stanley McFadden, he said, “In addition to new black-and-white vehicles for patrol, we were able to purchase a truck and trailer for our equestrian officers, obtain a large armored Military surplus rescue vehicle (MRAP), and purchase off-road Polaris vehicles, to address the unique needs of our department.”
With these new additions, the Stockton Police Department has more leverage in regard to handling operations, especially large sting operations dealing with gang and drug crimes.
In a news release statement from City Manager Harry Black, the funding for this equipment originated from the American Rescue Plan Act, the Military Equipment Use Assembly Bill 481, and some funding being allocated towards new police vehicles from the Stockton City Council.
In a statement praising the Stockton Police Department, Stockton Mayor Kevin Lincoln stated, “The Stockton Police Department works tirelessly day in and day out to protect our city. This new equipment provides our police department with the resources they need to serve and protect our community for years to come.”
With new equipment, the Stockton Police Department is confident this will help properly equip officers with the necessary equipment to efficiently and effectively handle Stockton’s out-of-control crime problem.
